Our Financial Planner Mark Cecil returned from the Touch Football World Cup in Nottingham, England with a silver medal. Mark was part of the Australian Emus Men’s 40s team who showcased their dominance on the international stage with a stellar performance over seven days.
The Men’s 40s team entered the tournament with high expectations and lived up to the hype with an undefeated run through the round-robin stage. Despite their strong performance, they fell just short in the final, losing a closely contested match to archrivals New Zealand with a final score of 4-3. This narrow defeat marked the only blemish in Australia’s otherwise triumphant campaign, taking out 12 of the 13 divisions including all 3 Opens divisions.
Whilst disappointed with the result, Mark said he was proud to have worn the green and gold for the first time and was pleased with his own tournament scoring 9 tries. The 2028 Touch Football World Cup will be held in New Zealand where Mark hopes to get the opportunity to take the trophy off New Zealand on their home soil.
