Christmas Wonderland

On Monday 14 December 2015, members of the Power Tynan team volunteered at the Christmas Wonderland held in Queens Park, an event which raises much needed funds for three major local charities: Lifeline Darling Downs & South West Qld Ltd, Toowoomba Hospital Foundation and Toowoomba Hospice.

Power Tynan volunteers each year at Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland to help celebrate Christmas within the Darling Downs community. The staff love the interaction with patrons at this event, and it is yet another way for us to have fun outside the workplace.

The event was a great success, with the event raising over $78,000 for the three local charities. Our team look forward to participating again this year.

Graduations

Congratulations to Lauren Guymer of our Toowoomba office, who graduated from CQU on 18 December 2015 with a Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management)/Bachelor of Professional Communication.

Baby News

Congratulations to Chelsea Vedelago and her partner Kurt on the arrival of Mia Jasmin Vedelago, born Friday 8 January 2016 weighing in at 7lb 8oz. Chelsea and Mia have been into the Stanthorpe office for a few visits already!

Australia Day Awards

Congratulations to Dan Cuthbert, who was nominated for Citizen of the Year in the Stanthorpe Australia Day Awards. Dan is incredibly involved within the Stanthorpe community via the Lions Club, as well as organising events such as That Dam Ride and the Australia Day Triathlon. There were five people nominated in this category and, while Dan did not take out this award, he should be extremely proud of the work that he does within the community. Well done Dan!

2016 Clifton Show

Sarah Ray of our Toowoomba office has won State and National levels of Angora goat judging. The annual Clifton Show, which was held in February, was Sarah’s first appearance as a sole judge. She is pictured here with Denis Janetzki, the Darling Downs Sub-Chamber President.

Wedding Bells

Congratulations to Kathy Addy of our Toowoomba office and her partner David Brooks on their recent engagement. Kathy and David have been together for 11 ½ years, and are planning their wedding for early April.

2016 Scholarship Program

As you may be aware, the Power Tynan Scholarship Program has been in place since 2008. The Scholarship is available to Grade 12 graduates, providing an opportunity to study a business degree (part-time) at USQ while working for our company on a full-time basis. We pay the individual’s HECS fees for all successfully completed subjects. The obvious advantage to the scholarship recipients is that they have their course fees paid and are in a position where they can apply their knowledge practically and receive valuable on-the-job mentoring and training.

Our 2016 scholarship recipients are Ashleigh Robertson and Sarah Tansky, who commenced their employment with Power Tynan at the beginning of February. Ashleigh will be based in our Toowoomba office, while Sarah will spend the majority of her time in our Stanthorpe office. We extend a warm welcome to these new faces and hope they enjoy their time working within our firm.

Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Harvest Festival

2016 marked the 50thanniversary of the Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Harvest Festival. Power Tynan was proud to be a silver sponsor of the event, which ran from 26 February through to 6 March.

As part of this sponsorship, Power Tynan supported the ANBC Stanthorpe Busking Festival, which was held on the first weekend of the Apple & Grape. Congratulations to String Family – Joel, Sarah, Heath and Ashleigh – who were the overall winners of the event. For more information on String Family, visit http://www.stringfamily.com.au/

Power Tynan also sponsored the Mt Marlay 10km Challenge and Quart Pot Creek 5km Walk, which was held on the final day of the Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Harvest Festival celebrations. Many of our staff and their families participated in these events. The winners of these events were as follows:

Along with sponsoring such events, many of our staff members were heavily involved with the organisation of the Festival.

Dan Cuthbert was the Events Director, and his committee included fellow Power Tynan staff members Judy Chapman, Morena Howard and Racheal Hendry. Jo Fox was a member of the Ball Committee, and Jane Kerridge worked alongside the President Greg Thouard assisting with the overall organisation of the Festival.

From all reports, the 2016 Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Harvest Festival was a tremendous success, and a great time was had by all who attended. Congratulations to everyone involved in putting together such a fantastic event!
