In March 2015, Stanthorpe local Karen Anderson was diagnosed with leukaemia. Only in her thirties, the mother of two required immediate medical treatment in Brisbane.

To relieve the stress and financial burden of attending important medical appointments, the Leukaemia Foundation offer free accommodation to regional and rural patients and their families. This enabled Karen and her young family to be together as much as possible during her treatment.

The Power Tynan Charitable Trust recently presented Emma Quade from the Leukaemia Foundation with a $1,500 cheque.

"Thanks to generous donations such as this, we are able to provide accommodation for more than 630 families,” said Emma.

Sadly, Karen lost her battle with leukaemia in October, which rocked the Stanthorpe community. Power Tynan’s donation will go towards the ESA Village in Brisbane, where Karen stayed throughout her treatment.

"Many of our staff called Karen a friend, myself included, and therefore nominated the Leukaemia Foundation to receive a donation from the Trust,” said Power Tynan Executive Director Amanda Kenafake. “It is a fantastic cause to support.”

The Power Tynan Charitable Trust has donated over $130,000 since its inception in 2010, and is open to the firm's staff, clients and all members of the public to contribute funds.
